Media coverage provides an insight into levels of public awareness of illegal logging and related trade. While such awareness may not always lead to action, it is important for bringing about change and is therefore useful to monitor. As part of the research undertaken for this assessment, both domestic and international media sources have been reviewed.
Domestic media coverage was assessed using national media archives, and searching for ‘illegal logging’ or related terms in the national language. International media coverage was assessed through using the online media database Factiva, and by searching for English-language articles that referred to 'illegal logging’ in the target country.
