Processing countries are those countries where a large percentage of timber imports are destined for re-export after local processing. Many processing countries are also important end-consumers of wood, and although these countries are classified as ‘processing countries’ within the assessment, many of the indicators are also relevant to these countries' role as consumers.
Two processing countries were assessed for the 2010 report – China and Vietnam. In 2013-14, these two countries and also Thailand were assessed.
